     New Bern Area Neighborhoods

Incorporated in 1710 as the second oldest city in North Carolina and its first capital, New Bern has four designated historic districts with charming homes on tree-lined streets ranging from cozy cottages to imposing three-story homes dating from the 1750's. The Downtown New Bern Historic District is the oldest and offers a short walk to the river, parks, shops, restaurants, galleries and theaters. In addition there are the nearby historic districts of Riverside, Ghent, and DeGraffenreid -- each offering differing prices ranges and lifestyles. Many newer neighborhoods are also a part of the city of New Bern.

Waterfront - We have Neuse River waterfront, Trent River waterfront, canal front, creek front, lake and pond front properties. It depends on what you want - a sailboat in the back yard or a canoe pulled up on the shore. Prices vary accordingly from $150,000 for a small townhome on a canal to $1,500,000 +/- for prime deep sheltered water with an updated home!

Trent Woods - Long popular with families and young professionals, this separately incorporated bedroom community to New Bern has a wide variety of homes from modest ranches to expansive Trent River waterfront properties. With about 3,500 residents, Trent Woods consists of a collection of neighborhoods such as Fox Hollow, Country Club Hills, Wilson Creek, Country Club Park, Bellefern and Creek's End. The majority of the homes were built in the 70's and 80's and the desirability of the location warrants the necessary updating which is often required.

River Bend - With approximately 3,500 residents, River Bend has its own golf and country club and marina facility. Housing options include waterfront townhomes, duplexes, patio homes, golf course homes and luxury homes on the Trent River. This forward-thinking, well-managed small town is just 4 miles from New Bern.

Greenbrier - A desirable planned community located within the City of New Bern, known for its first class golf course, convenient location and verdant green setting. With tennis courts and a casual clubhouse and swimming pool, this attractive community appeals to both golfers and non-golfers alike.

Brice's Creek Area - This name refers to the unincorporated area along the Eastern shore of the Trent River in Craven County. A series of varied and lovely neighborhoods and subdivisions offer an assortment of lifestyle options from Lake Clermont, River Trace, Oakview, Snug Harbor, Hunter’s Ridge, Deer Run, Reedy Creek, the Home Place and Rock Creek Farms. Many of these neighborhoods are just a few minutes from downtown New Bern.

Taberna - Located off US 70 about 3 miles from downtown New Bern, Taberna offers all city services including water, sewer, road maintenance, police and fire protection services. With a fine golf course, private club with dining facilities, swimming pool and tennis courts, pedestrian walking trails and a canoe dock on Brices Creek, there’s something for everyone.  Many of the homes here feature many of the sought after features and upgrades.

Carolina Colours - New Bern’s exciting new planned community is still being developed.  Offering a superb residential lifestyle with all city services, it offers a community pavilion/club house, golf course, swimming pool and walking trails just a few miles from downtown New Bern. A small commercial area including a grocery store will be under construction soon. This is an exciting upscale community with strong financial backing and a beautiful setting poised to take off as the market recovers.

Fairfield Harbour - One of the best housing values in Eastern North Carolina, Fairfield Harbour is a gated residential community offering golf, several marina facilities with unrestricted access to the Neuse River and canal-front, creek-front, golf course and interior homes and homesites.

Craven 30 - In the development stage, this newest venture of the Weyerhauser Company promises to be an exciting addition to New Bern. Located just a few miles west of New Bern, Craven 30 will incorporate an additional shopping hub along with housing and a business park. We always expect good things from Weyerhauser! Stay tuned.

Sellhorn Heights, Derby Park, Surrey Downs, Jimmies Creek, Belle OaksBerkshire, and Oakview are just a few additional neighborhoods in and around New Bern offering very affordable housing options for retirees, couples and families.

Havelock - A separately incorporated city of about 24,000, Havelock is located about 20 miles east of downtown New Bern. Home to Cherry Point – the largest Marine Corp Air Station in the world, it is inhabited primarily by military personnel and folks involved in related businesses and services.

Pollocksville/Jones County - This is a small town and rural county of 7,000 located south of New Bern and Craven County on Route 17. Still sleepy, but beginning to wake up, we expect to see this develop as a bedroom community to New Bern as time goes by.

AND MORE - This is just a sampling of neighborhoods – there are more! With homes from $75,000 to $1,500,000 and everything in between, the New Bern area truly offers something for every budget and every lifestyle! – each offering differing prices ranges and lifestyles. Many newer neighborhoods are also a part of the city of New Bern.
